Mary Murtagh is an award-winning news reporter and video journalist turned media trainer. She knows what makes the media tick and how to attract their attention. With 15 years’ experience of working in newsrooms across the UK and US she now shares her media insider knowledge with hundreds of entrepreneurs, businesses and public sector organisations every year. Her international work as a print, radio and television interview trainer includes: working across Europe preparing multi-lingual spokespeople for a global chemicals company; training sailors, helicopter pilots and Admirals on overseas NATO military exercises; and preparing directors and chief executives to handle media crises from serious case reviews to criminal investigations. As a PR mentor and trainer she has worked with a range of businesses – from start-ups to multi-million pound companies – to help them put their best foot forward with the media. As a specialist PR advisor she currently works with dozens of high-growth companies supported by the European Regional Development Fund, LEAD and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses project. Mary is still a working journalist and currently freelances for: M magazine and The National, both published in the United Arab Emirates; UK glossy magazines; and specialist trade press.
